My sister Elizabeth, in our school costume.
Both Elizabeth and I competed in the reel, light jig, slip jig, treble jig and hornpipe. I took it very easy, since my ankle was still sore *ducks to hide from Mrs. W's wrath*. I couldn't get refunded on all the money I spent, so I decided to tape, brace my ankle and dance anyway. I actually enjoyed myself more since I didn't have the pressure of placing in my dances. I knew I wouldn't do well since I hadn't practiced and couldn't do much with a bum foot. Imagine my shock and surprise when I found I had placed in my hornpipe, the last dance of the day. I took fifth doing my easy steps (I was tired and wanted to get it done fast) and making up my last step (My shoe started to come off. The brace was a little too big. I lost track of where I was in the step and started to stomp to get the shoe back on. After that I just tried to keep time with the music and hoped it didn't look too random.)
Elizabeth placed in all of her dances except for the slip jig. To my delight, she placed first in her reel. It was her only dance in the novice level, all her other dances were in advanced begginner. The only way to move out of that level to the next is to place first. I have not managed to do that and it is great that Elizabeth has passed me up. She wasn't too happy with the idea though.........

You gals look terrific! I'm glad you had a good time, despite your ankle problem. When I danced I only went to one feis and it was not a good experience. But, I love dancing aside from having to compete. :) Oh, and I like your school dress.

That's awesome! I'm glad your ankle was doing okay. Those are great pictures! I especially like the bottom one! How old is your sister, Elizabeth? God bless you!

That's so great, Scyld! I love the pictures and I'm glad your ankle is doing better. Hopefully you didn't damage it too much :)

God bless :)

You sound just like me, dancing with a hurt ankle. It's so something I would do. Like doing plays two days after I got my appendix out... *sigh* Interesting, especially because when you're on Vicodin, you're exhausted all the time, but you have to take it or else you're in pain, but when you do take it you fall asleep. (total run-on sentence... *strangles herself*) I know from personal experience. Yeah. Anyway, cute pictures, etc., and I'm glad you had a good feis. Several of mine were good, but several weren't, so I'm glad yours was a good one.
God bless you! ( I don't see what's so hard about putting a little three letter word in to make it a complete sentence. You people pretty much can't do grammar, I guess. Or maybe you're just trying to get me to go insane. That could be it. *sigh*)
Just kidding...

No Sheila, I just love you so much it is fun to annoy you. Sorry doll. God bless YOU Scyld!

[How do you like that Zenker? =D]

It's not that we don't know our rules of grammar. It's just that we, like so many americans, choose to ignore them most of the time. They become tiresome, especially if all you're doing is commenting on blogs, instant messaging, or other similiar activities. Ignoring rules of grammar may not be the proper way to speak English, but it is the proper way to speak American;)

I'm glad you think so, Kodi. And now, we agree to disagree. Thanks, and good day.

At one of my feises a long time ago, my teacher told me five minutes before the dance started that I was doing it- and I totally didn't know the dance. So i faked it, and I think i ended up getting second!
Elizabeth looks kind of like one of my mum's school friends from way back when. She's really cute.

Anonymous said...

No, she looks like Margaret from Sense and Sensibility.

Anonymous said...

Yeah Deirdre, she really does!

Anonymous said...

Thank you Kodi! I'm glad that you agree with me. :) Sorry Sheila, but I think that you are outnumbered. Ha ha! I still love you...even if we do disagree every so often.

I'm with Sheila. Grammar is what staves off universal decay and ruin.

And that was actually me.

Zenka said...

See, Rose, I think you're out numbered. Sucker... Anyway, I'm right, because in grammar, if you're right than that's final, no matter what Kodi says. *sticks out tongue at y'all* Plus, I'm 25% English, which has got to count for something.
And yes, Elizabeth does look like Margaret from S&S. just like Iain claims I look like Drew Barrymore only more so.

Scyldmaiden said...

Yeah, Elizabeth does look like a younger Margaret.

Anonymous said...

Cowee! How could you do that to me!!
No Sheila, I think I am still winning. Scyld, what do you think?
Wow, she does look like a younger Margaret.

Zenka said...

Rose, it doesn't matter if you think you're winning, because you aren't. Sorry, but it's simply the unavoidable truth. Even if you under-educated people think that an incomplete sentence is okay, the rest of the population of the WORLD is on my side, therefore making it impossible for you to be ahead of me. Sorry to crush your little dream castle...

Honestly, Shill, I always read past the grammar mistakes. Half the time I don't even notice it because I read the comments so fast.

Zenka said...

Sorry, I'm just feeling really mean and oh, shoot, what's the word I'm looking for? My apologies to you all. I'm just not a very nice person, I guess. *sigh* I'll have to work on it. :)

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Shill I guess your not a very nice person, but I love you way much anyways! (hehe, grammar...)

I'm finally in a good mood, so I think I'll comment on something before you all despair of me ever being a happy person.
I love the ocean. Even though it gives me a rash from rubbing against the boogie-board. If any of you ever come to CA, you HAVE to go boogie-boarding with a native. Or me. I'm getting to be more and more a native. I love California. Every time I go boarding, I think, you could never do anything like this in WA. This is so much nicer. And the ocean isn't even 12 degrees. *grin*
I'm sunburned.

Anonymous said...

Sorry Sheila...

Anonymous said...

Hey Shill, can you boogie-board all throughout the year? It is so much fun, I remember trying it the first time we went to Mexico. So fun.

Zenka said...

Yup. And people do frequently. Like the Melleins.
I am REALLY sunburned now... Like a potato that you wrapped in tin foil to cook in the fire, only you left it in to long, because it fell asleep. Yeah.
Not meaning to be pushy or anything, Scyld, but I'm thinking a new post might just be in order...

Anonymous said...

Hmm...that is good. About boogie-boarding that is, not about you being sunburned.

Anonymous said...

Well the one, and only time I went boogie-boarding was when I was 5, in Mexico, and I got a huge mouthful of salt-water. It was noa good experience. So...maybe doing it in CA would be better. Hmmm...
Ha ha! I love your 'sunburned' story type thing. Ah that just made my day. Ah...Golly Sheila, I just love you!

Zenka said...

You're welcome. You should've seen me... My legs were the color of the sky at sunset. :)
I reiterate my previous message, Scyld.

I reiterate my previous message...

Reiterate all you want, some people have to work for a living.
:) Soon.......

Sheil, back to your "my legs were the color of the sky at sunset" thing, Aunt Barbara told me that my bruised toenail (the one Andrew Dunc gave me at the grad dance) looks like a sunset. :)

Sheila, patience is a virtue!
...one that I am still working on as well.
Scyld, I understand, whenever you want to post, so be it.
The sooner the *ahem* better *cough cough*. =D
God bless you!

I can't wait for the next post! Actually I can, and will have to.
Suzanne, I prayed a lot for you and Kodi (and everyone else) while we were in Italy. I hope that you are doing well, and I will continue to pray for you. God bless you all!

three months... Dude, that's as long as I've been in Cali. You need to post.

Anonymous said...

3 months!?! Wow...I remember the 29th. That was not a terrific day for me. The only one good thing that happened that day was Confession...oh and then Mass too. But then-...sorry, never mind. Nothing at all of importance. Grr!
Yes, Suzanne, you do need to post. Sort of like Anthony and Kodi, and other various people. Hooray for Madeline posting!

Hey, honey, anything, ummmm, 'new' that you might like to write about....If there is, this is a terrific place to do it. (hint, hint) :) We got your return message- glad your birthday was grand! And Gaelic Storm! Awesome. DId your parents enjoy it? God bless you and your beautiful family, Zanne!
